A Garage Encounter and Michael's Big Feet

Submitted by CW.

Garage Crossing

When Phantom was playing at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles fans would crowd around the stage door, another exit was established for Michael. He started using the garage entrance at the side of the building. His assistant or whoever was giving him a ride home at night would back into the garage near the back door exit stairs. Then he would make a very fast exit out the door into the awaiting car and they would rush off. I would pass by this garage every Saturday night after leaving the San Fernando Valley where my boyfriend played in a local night club. I would leave early and take the bus to the Ahmanson and then get taxi there for the rest of my trip home. I only lived about five blocks from the theater. On this occasion I started past the garage opening and stopped when I saw this car come barreling out. On the passenger side was a very startled Michael who saw that, if I had not stopped I would have been hit. I do not think his assistant ever saw me. She just kept on driving. He looked back and saw I continued on my way.

Michael's Big Feet

One Saturday night when I was coming home from my boyfriend's gig, I checked to be sure it was safe going by the garage and saw no one coming out. When I was about half way past the garage opening, I heard some noise and looked up. I saw Michael's assistant come out of the back door and rush down to her car. Michael was a few feet behind her. She got to the car and was getting inside when he started down the stairs. These stairs were very small, specially for a man's foot (big ones at that). Michael started down the stairs and got to the second one and started to fall. Instead of worrying about falling he started juggling the objects in his hands. He had about three bouquets of flowers and some papers (no doubt fan mail, which he usually read in between shows). Ah, you see he is more concerned about losing his flowers and fan mail than injuring himself. That's our Michael! He kept juggling everything and finally got control of the situation and looked around to see if anybody saw him. I saw everything, but quickly turned my head so he would not be embarrassed. Out of the corner of my eye I could see him breathe a big sigh of relief that no one had seen his juggling act. After I got past the garage opening I couldn't hold my laughter and started laughing. As I went down the way a bit I turned around and saw the car at the opening getting ready to go into traffic. I smiled at him, and he then realized that I had seen his juggling act and his eyes rolled.
